Beginners Start Here.

When it comes to something like makeup it can be easy to get overwhelmed. You miss a few months of magazines and all of the sudden everyone you know is obsessed with DD cream you end up having this conversation: “what’s DD cream!?” “it’s like CC cream only better!” “Wait, what’s CC cream!?” “More or less the same thing as BB cream only with color corrector.” At which point you’d like to ask what BB cream is but you can tell by her tone she’s getting all judgy. So you nod and decide that you don’t even care about these new alphabetical makeup creations anyway. You’re perfectly happy with what you’ve been using since high school….sort of. I know it happens....

Soft Neutral Makeup Tutorial

I can’t thank you guys enough for helping me get inspired. Your requests were brilliant. This one was inspired by this pin. Thank you Nikki for the idea! I had so much fun with this look and I learned a few new tricks! Hopefully you like the video, I tried doing a voice over version this time so let me know which you prefer:) What I used: Before the video I prepped with: St. Ives Moisture MUF HD Primer & a really light application of Armani Silk Foundation I probably wouldn’t normally wear foundation under this look but for videos it makes a big difference to have a really blank canvas. I don’t know if I’m busier or lazier or just wanting to be outside instead of in but on days like these I need a set of strategies (above and beyond moving fast and staying on task) so I can have my cake and eat it too. 1. Separate and conquer: Searching through a makeup bag can eat up an awful lot of time for nothin’ So my advice is to first, go through and take out every piece that you don’t use daily and stash it elsewhere in a “special occasion” makeup bag. Keep what’s left in plain sight so you can grab what you need...

Brow School Begins today.

In high school when I got bored (which was often) I would always doodle. Sometimes I would doodle my future signature (Caralyn Pitt, of course). Sometimes I would doodle flowers or song lyrics. But mostly I would doodle eyebrows. True story. I have notebooks filled with them. High arches, furrowed brows, thin brows, thick brows and sharp Elizabeth Taylor brows. I use this story to help illustrate my love for that fuzz hovering over your eyes. I can’t think of one single makeup/beauty item that is more important that eyebrows (maybe as important, but not more) Yet, I get questions about it constantly. I want to answer those questions. All of them. Which I decided to break into a few...
